Güzelyurt

This page describes the northwest of , mostly administered as Güzelyurt District, plus Lefke District at its west tip. Few tourists come this way but it's easily reached from the resort of Kyrenia or the capital Nicosia, and gives you a glimpse of traditional Turkish Cypriot villages.

Akamas, is a promontory and cape at the northwest extremity of with an area of 230 square kilometres. Ptolemy described it as a thickly wooded headland, divided into two by summits rising towards the north.
