The Singapore River forms a central artery in Singapore's densely packed Central Business District. The north bank of the river is where Raffles landed and founded his colony, and to this day many central government buildings can be found in the area.
Chinatown

Singapore's Chinatown is the traditional Chinese quarters of town, and while the entire city is largely Chinese these days, the area does retain some of its own charm.

Little India is, as the name promises, the centre for the large Indian community in Singapore. While a rather sanitised version of the real thing, Little India retains its distinct identity without degenerating into a mere tourist attraction and is one of the most colourful and attractive places to visit in Singapore.
