Southern Province
The Southern Province of Sri Lanka is one of the nine provinces of Sri Lanka, the first level administrative division of the country. The provinces have existed since the 19th century but did not have any legal status until 1987 when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of Sri Lanka established provincial councils.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Hambantota is the main city in Hambantota District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. This area was hit hard by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and underwent a number of major development projects including the construction of a new sea port and international airport finished in 2013.

Matara is a city in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. The Southern Province consists of three districts and the city of Matara lies between Galle and Hambantota which are the other districts of Southern Province.

Hikkaduwa is a beach town on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, between the villages Thotagamuwa and Thiranagama. 20 km south you find the city of Galle. A small part of the beach is a Marine National Park, Hikkaduwa National Park.

Weligama is a town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in Matara District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. The name Weligama, literally means "sandy village" which refers to the area's sandy sweep bay.

Bentota is a coastal town of 37,000 people in Southern Sri Lanka. Bentota is a tourist town, with a local airport and a handful of world-class hotels. It is a destination for watersports and is famous for its toddy production, an alcoholic beverage made out of coconut nectar.

Unawatuna is a beach resort town in southern Sri Lanka 5 km south of Galle. It can be seen as its suburb, a bustling little community of guest houses, cafes, markets, crafts and bars. The main beach is swimmable year round.

Mirissa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It is approximately 150 kilometres south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 metres above sea level.
