The name Kapsabet comes from "Kap"- 'belong to/area of' and "sabit" or "sobet" – 'live' and has come to mean 'a place of life' though external influences and documentation refer it as Kapsabet. Kapsabet is situated 7 km northwest of Kipsigak.
