Mystras is a fortress town and archaeological site in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece, known for its ruins from the Byzantine era. During its heyday as a medieval city, it was the capital of the Despotate of Morea, a rump state that was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in the mid-15th century shortly after the fall of Constantinople.
