Faiyum is a city located geographically in Lower Egypt but culturally and politically in Upper Egypt 100 kilometres, southwest of Cairo. In the Faiyum Oasis, it is the capital of the modern Faiyum Governorate. Philadelphia is situated 2½ km northwest of Al Fahmīyah.
