Šakyna is a small town in Šiauliai County in northern-central Lithuania. As of 2011 it had a population of 382. Šakyna is situated 5 km east of Žarėnai.

Klaišiai is a village in the south of Akmenė district, 6 km from Šemetaičiai. There is a primary school and a medical center. The preserved Klaišiai manor can be found here too, which was originally owned by the Burbos family. Klaišiai is situated 7 km southwest of Žarėnai.

Kruopiai is a small town in Šiauliai County in northern-central Lithuania. As of 2011 it had a population of 508. It is the final resting place of Ann Wigmore, where a monument was unveiled in her honour on 22 September 2012. Kruopiai is situated 8 km north of Žarėnai.
