Barsa-Kelmes was an island, the largest in the Aral Sea. Its area was 133 km2 in the 1980s, but as the sea became more shallow it steadily grew, until in the 1990s it ceased to be an island.- Type: Peninsula

Barsa-Kelmes Nature Reserve is a wildlife refuge on the former island of Barsa-Kelmes in Kyzylorda Region of Kazakhstan, in Central Asia. It was founded in 1939. Barsa-Kelmes Nature Reserve is situated 3 km east of Barsa-Kelmes.
