Spišské Podhradie is a town of 3,800 people famous for its castle. The Spiš Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Spiš region of Slovakia. Founded in the 12th century, it guarded the borders of the former Szepes county of the former Kingdom of Hungary.
