Vishegrad
Vishegrad is a village in Kardzhali Municipality, Kardzhali Province, southern Bulgaria. On the shores of the Studen Kladenets Reservoir on the river Arda just north of the village is located the medieval Bulgarian fortress of Vishegrad. Vishegrad is a medieval fortress in the Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria rising over a promontory in the valley of the river Arda. About one kilometer south on another hill lie the ruins of an ancient Thracian fort. Its name means High Town.
