Avas or Avantas is a village in the southern part of the Evros regional unit, Greece. Avantas is located 10 km north of Alexandroupoli. It is on the Greek National Road 53, between Alexandroupoli to the south and Aisymi to the north. Avas is situated 4½ km north of Amfitriti.

It is the largest city in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with a population of 71,751 and is an important port and commercial center for Northern Greece.
