Avala is a mountain in Serbia, overlooking Belgrade. It is situated in the south-eastern corner of the city and provides a great panoramic view of Belgrade, Vojvodina and Šumadija, as the surrounding area on all sides is mostly lowlands. Avala is situated 3 km northeast of Gornja Mađarica.

Monument to the Unknown Hero

The Monument to the Unknown Hero is a World War I memorial located atop Mount Avala, south-east of Belgrade, Serbia, and designed by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Monument to the Unknown Hero is situated 3 km northeast of Gornja Mađarica.
