Seoni, formerly spelled Seeonee, is a city and a municipality in Seoni district in the Indian state of . Rudyard Kipling used the forests of the in the vicinity of Seoni as the setting for the Mowgli stories collected as The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book in 1894 and 1895.
