It was notified on 9 October 1975 and covers an area of approximately 194.6 km2, spanning the districts of Kota, Bundi, and Chittorgarh along the Chambal River. Jawahar Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 2½ km south of Tapuraki Khān.
