The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a suspension bridge that links the city of Kobe on the Japanese island of Honshu and Iwaya, Awaji on Awaji Island. It is part of the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway, and crosses the busy and turbulent Akashi Strait.

Akashi Castle is an Edo period Japanese castle located in the city of Akashi, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. It was also known as Kiharu Castle or Kinkō Castle. Its ruins have been protected as a National Historic Site since 1957. Akashi Castle is situated 3½ km northwest of Akashi Strait.
