Lake Harihari

Lake Harihari is a dune-dammed lake 10 km south of Kawhia in the region of . Its water quality is the best amongst the Waikato dune lakes. It is ranked eighth in importance in the region. Its quality has been attributed to its remoteness.

The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "long coast" for Tahāroa however traditional histories state that the extended name is “Te Tahaaroa a Ruaputahanga” or the “long calabash of Ruaputahanga”.
