Mount Hector is one of the highest peaks in the Tararua Range, situated in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It has a height of 1,529 metres. The peak is named after James Hector, a prominent scientist in New Zealand during the 19th century.

Field Hut is a historic tramping hut in the Tararua Range of New Zealand. Field Hut was constructed by the Tararua Tramping Club following the death of one of their members and is named after the first president of the club, William Hughes Field. Field Hut is situated 3 km north of Dennan.
