Picoto da Melriça is a monument and the geodesic centre of mainland Portugal. Constructed in 1802, the triangulation station sits on top of the Serra da Melriça, a 592 m high mountain range in the municipality of Vila de Rei, offering a 360° view of its surroundings. Picoto da Melriça is situated 4 km northwest of Palhota.

A small municipality covered with pinewoods, located precisely at the centre of Portugal, as marked by the Picoto da Melriça, a monument indicating the geodesic centre of Mainland Portugal. Água Formosa is situated 4½ km south of Palhota.
