Amuwo-Odofin is a community of 1.5 million people in Lagos City. It includes Festac Town a federal housing estate named after the Second World African Festival of Arts and Culture that was held there in 1977, and Satellite Town, a suburb and state housing estate that was set up by the Lagos state government in 1960 to support and help government workers become land and house owners. Satellite Town is situated 4½ km northeast of Ikare.
