Rute is a municipality in the province of Córdoba, Spain. It lies between Iznájar to the South East, and Lucena to the North West. Cuevas de San Marcos is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. The municipality is situated in the northern part of the Antequera region, on the border of the province of Córdoba from the river valley of Genil to the Sierra Malnombre and Camorro de Cuevas Altas. Cuevas de San Marcos is situated 7 km southwest of Rute.

Iznájar is a traditional Spanish "pueblo blanco" in the province of Córdoba. Its main business of this town of 4300 people is the cultivation of olives, although tourism is an increasingly important source of income for the town.
