Aïn El Assel is a town and commune in El Taref Province, Algeria. According to the 1998 census it has a population of 12,482. Aïn El Assel is situated 4½ km southwest of Chabet El Frîn.

El Kala is a seaport of Northeast Algeria, in El Tarf Province, 90 km by rail east of Annaba and 16 km west of the Tunisian frontier. It is the centre of the Algerian and Tunisian coral fisheries and has an extensive industry in the curing of sardines.
