Lomé is the capital and largest city of Togo. With a population of almost 2.2 million, the city is the economic and cultural center of the country. Around a quarter of the country's population lives here.

Aflao is a coastal town in Ghana bordering Togo. While east of the Togolese side of the border the city is the capital, Lome, the once-called "Pearl of West Africa", the Ghanaian town is a typical African border town built solely to service the movement of people and goods.
