Aarøsund is a village in southern Denmark situated in the region of Sønderjylland 15 kilometres east of Haderslev. It is also the name of the narrow strait between the village and the island of Årø.

Assens is a town with a population of 5,952 on the west coast of the island of Funen on the eastern side of the Little Belt in central Denmark. By road, Assens is located 41.2 kilometres southwest of Odense, 34 kilometres northwest of Faaborg, and 33.34 kilometres southeast of Middelfart.
