Situated in the Eastern part of the municipality, Torno is limited in the south by Vilar do Torno e Alentém, in the west by Cernadelo, in the southeast by municipality of Amarante and in the north by municipality of Felgueiras.

It includes the site of Ancient Magnetum, in the civil parish Meinedo, which briefly was a short-lived Suebi-Galician bishopric and is now a Latin Catholic titular see. Lousada Municipality is situated 4 km west of Ribeiro de Barrosas.
