The Bezirk St. Johann im Pongau is an administrative district in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria, and congruent with the Pongau region. Area of the district is 1,755.37 km2, with a population of 77,872, and population density 44 people per km2. St. Johann im Pongau District is situated 3½ km south of Wagrain.

St. Johann im Pongau is the main city of the Pongau Region. It is in the Salzach Valley of the Eastern Alps is in the federal state of Salzburg. The city is largely dependent on tourism: Alpine skiing in winter and hiking in the summer months.
