Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm is a municipality in Bavaria, Germany, capital of the district Pfaffenhofen. It is located on the river Ilm, and had a population of 23,282 in 2004.

Affalterbach is a village of the Bavarian municipality of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm. There is a fossil site about 800 m northwest of the church; the site has been dated to about 16 million years ago on the basis of the presence of the small rodent Megacricetodon aff. bavaricus and the local stratigraphy. Affalterbach is situated 2½ km northeast of Heißmanning.
