Bad Dürrenberg is a spa town in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the river Saale, approx. 8 km southeast of Merseburg. It is known for its historic graduation tower, the largest one in Germany. Bad Dürrenberg is situated 3½ km southeast of Göhlitzsch.

Merseburg is a more than thousand-year-old town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Although the historic centre was largely destroyed in World War II, the town has several notable buildings, including the Merseburg Cathedral of St John the Baptist and the episcopal palace.
