Pommern, formerly Mneme, is a steel-hulled four-masted barque. It was built in 1903 at the J. Reid & Co shipyard in Glasgow, Scotland. Pommern is one of the Flying P-Liners, sailing ships of the German shipping company F.

Mariehamn is the capital and only town of the Åland Islands. The Finnish name, Maarianhamina, appears on some ferry timetables and other travel information, but is seldom used locally. Fewer than 6% of residents speak Finnish as their first language.
