The Pannonian Limes is part of the old Roman fortified frontier known as the Danubian Limes that runs for approximately 420 km from the Roman camp of Klosterneuburg in the Vienna Basin in Austria to the castrum in Singidunum in present-day Serbia. Pannonian Limes is situated 5 km north of Nagyherkály.

Komárom is a city in Hungary on the south bank of the Danube in Komárom-Esztergom County. Komárom fortress played an important role in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and many contemporary English sources refer to it as the Fortress of Comorn. Komárom is situated 5 km northeast of Nagyherkály.
