Groß Iser

Groß Iser was a village on Hala Izerska existing from the 17th century until 1945. Today the remains of the village can be found in Poland just by the Czech border. The closest towns are Świeradów-Zdrój on the Polish side and Harrachov on the Czech side. Groß Iser is situated 3½ km north of Jizerka.

Desná Dam

The Desná Dam was a dam constructed on the Bílá Desná river in the Jizera Mountains, which are in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It is known for bursting on September 18, 1916, ten months after it was built, which caused the river to flood the nearby town of Desná, killing 67 people and causing hundreds of others to lose their homes. Desná Dam is situated 5 km west of Jizerka.
