The Żarnowiec Nuclear Power Plant was to be the first nuclear power plant in Poland. The construction was cancelled due to changes in the economic and political situation in Poland, in the Soviet Union and in the Eastern Bloc and due to the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 and the following years. The Żarnowiec Pumped Storage Power Station is a pumped-storage power station located about 7 km south of Żarnowiec, in Puck County, northern Poland. It was constructed between 1973 and 1983 and underwent a modernisation between 2007 and 2011, with the upper reservoir reconstructed in 2006. Żarnowiec Pumped Storage Power Station is situated 4 km west of Lubocino.
