Drvenik is a coastal town of 420 people on the Makarska coast between Split and Dubrovnik, 24 km south-east from Makarska. Drvenik consists of two settlements, Gornja and Donja Vala, about a kilometre apart.

It consists of two parts, an older part below a steep limestone section of the Biokovo mountain range, and a newer coastal zone. Zaostrog is situated 4½ km south of Brezdan.
