Kovin fortress is a strategic fortification in south-western Serbia, 9 km north from the present day town of Prijepolje, between the villages of Džurovo, Kučin, and Izbičanj. Kovin Fortress is situated 3½ km northwest of Bare.

Following the defeat of the Republic of Užice in 1941, during World War II in Yugoslavia, leader of the Yugoslav Partisans Josip Broz Tito moved to Drenova on 3 December 1941, where he stayed for 10 days. Drenova is situated 2½ km northeast of Bare.
