Estadio Cristóbal Labra opened in 1957 as Municipal Stadium, in Nueva Gerona on the Isla de la Juventud. With 5,000 seats, it is the smallest in the Cuban National Series and was the only stadium without lights.

The Presidio Modelo was a "model prison" with panopticon design, built on the Isla de Pinos, now the Isla de la Juventud, in Cuba. It is located in the suburban quarter of Chacón, Nueva Gerona. Presidio Modelo is situated 3½ km east of Reparto Alturas de Nueva Gerona.
