Emerald Coast Airport is an international airport 10 kilometres west of Tola, a town in the Rivas Department of Nicaragua. The airport was opened on November 15, 2015, at a cost of almost US$13 million.

Tola is a municipality in the Rivas department of Nicaragua. Tola means "Land of Tula", or "Land of the Toltecs" and its etymology derives from Nahuatl Tōllān, the altepetl of the Classic and Post Classic Toltec Empire of central Mexico. Tola is situated 9 km east of Río Pansuaca.
