Gatun Lake
Gatun Lake is a mostly freshwater reservoir to the south of Colón, Panama. At approximately 26 m above sea level, it forms a major part of the Panama Canal, carrying ships 33 km of their transit across the Isthmus of Panama.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Gatun is a small town on the Atlantic Side of the Panama Canal, located south of the city of Colón at the point in which Gatun Lake meets the channel to the Caribbean Sea. Gatún is situated 8 km north of Gatun Lake.

Village
Escobal is a corregimiento in Colón District, Colón Province, Panama with a population of 2,388 as of 2010. Its population as of 1990 was 1,964; its population as of 2000 was 2,181. Escobal is situated on the shore of Lake Gatun. Escobal is situated 9 km southwest of Gatun Lake.
