The population was 39,102 as of the 2020 census, and was estimated at 38,306 in 2025, making it is the third-largest city in Jefferson County, after Birmingham and Hoover, and making it is the fourteenth-largest city in Alabama. Vestavia Hills is situated 1½ miles northwest of Countrywood Highlands.
