Sylvania is a town in DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. Established in 1836 and incorporated in October 1967, the town has a population of 1,837 as of the 2010 census. Sylvania is located atop Sand Mountain. The first post office was built in 1977. Sylvania is situated 4½ miles northwest of Walker Branch.
