Oil Trough is a town in Independence County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 260 at the 2010 census. The post office opened here in 1832 under the name Pleasant Island, with a switch to the Oil Trough name in 1849. Oil Trough is situated 1½ miles north of Brown Lake.
