Swedesboro is a borough in Gloucester County, New Jersey. It is a small quaint little town of a little over 2,500 people. Swedesboro was formed as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 9, 1902, from portions of Woolwich Township, which completely surrounds it.

As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 12,577, its highest decennial count ever and an increase of 2,377 from the 2010 census count of 10,200, which in turn reflected an increase of 7,168 from the 3,032 counted in the 2000 census. Woolwich Township is situated 2½ miles west of Lake Basgalore.
