Cushing is a city in Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. As of the 2020 census, Cushing had a population of 8,327. Cushing was established after the Land Run of 1891 by William "Billy Rae" Little. Cushing is situated 4½ miles northwest of Cottonwood Creek.

Avery is a ghost town in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, United States. The community had a post office from September 16, 1902, until August 26, 1957. Founded as Mound City, it was renamed for Eastern Oklahoma Railway worker Avery Turner after the railroad built through the community. Avery is situated 5 miles southwest of Cottonwood Creek.
