Maricao State Forest is a state forest located in the western Cordillera Central mountains of Puerto Rico. It is commonly known as Monte del Estado because it was one of the first forest reserves in Puerto Rico to be designated a state forest in its official name. Maricao State Forest is situated 3 km northeast of Quebrada Piedras.

Maricao is a small mountain town and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the western portion of the Cordillera Central region. The area is home to the Maricao State Forest, popularly known as Monte del Estado, a fish hatchery and numerous paradores and inns housed in former coffee and tobacco plantations.
