USS Yorktown

USS Yorktown is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. Initially to have been named Bonhomme Richard, she was renamed Yorktown while still under construction, after the Yorktown-class aircraft carrier USS Yorktown , which was sunk at the Battle of Midway. USS Yorktown is situated 1½ miles west of Millwood.

USS Laffey

USS Laffey is an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer constructed during World War II, laid down and launched in 1943, and commissioned in February 1944. She was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Seaman Bartlett Laffey, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his stand against Confederate forces during the Civil War. USS Laffey is situated 1½ miles west of Millwood.
