Madisonville is a city in and the county seat of Madison County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,420 at the 2020 census. Both the City of Madisonville and the County of Madison were named for U.S. President James Madison, the fourth chief executive. Madisonville is situated 5 miles northwest of Stewart Lake Dam.
