The small town was originally known as "Houston", but "As for the name Nace, that was in honor of George Washington Fayette Nace, a prominent local farmer born Feb. Nace is situated 2 miles southeast of Gravel Hill Church.

Troutville is a town in Botetourt County, Virginia, United States. The population was 458 at the 2020 census. The town is located along the U.S. Route 11 between Cloverdale and Buchanan. It is part of the Roanoke metropolitan area. Troutville is situated 2½ miles south of Gravel Hill Church.
