Monroe

Monroe County is a county in the U.S. state of . As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,376. Its county seat is . Monroe County was the home of Andrew Summers Rowan, a soldier in the Spanish–American War commemorated in Elbert Hubbard's essay "A Message to Garcia." In 1928 the Jones Diamond was found lying on the ground here by two men pitching horseshoes.
