Ashdale Junction is a former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad station and junction in Carroll County, Illinois, United States. Ashdale Junction is located along the Milwaukee Road railroad line east of Mount Carroll. Ashdale Junction is situated 2½ miles north of Timber Lake Dam.

Mount Carroll is a city in the Illinois Driftless Area and the county seat of Carroll County. Founded around 1841, the community was home to the short-lived Mount Carroll Seminary, which later became Shimer College and is today known for its Victorian homes and large downtown, which is part of the larger Mount Carroll Historic District.
