Burntside is an unincorporated community in Morse Township, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The community is located three miles west of Ely, near the junction of State Highway 169 / State Highway 1, and Saint Louis County Road 88. Burntside Lake and Shagawa Lake are in the vicinity. Burntside is situated 2½ miles west of Big Island.

Winton is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 169 at the 2020 census. The city is home to a small hydroelectric dam on the edge of Garden Lake, one of 11 stations owned by Minnesota Power. Winton is situated 4 miles east of Big Island.
