The building is located at 206 7th Street North in Brainerd, Minnesota, United States, and is in the Classical Revival architectural style using granite and brick. Brainerd straddles the Mississippi River several miles upstream from its confluence with the Crow Wing River, having been founded as a site for a railroad crossing above the confluence.
