Nelson is a city in and the county seat of Nuckolls County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 488 at the 2010 census. The city was named from the middle name of one Horatio Nelson Wheeler, the original owner of the town site. Nelson is situated 5 miles southwest of Whithorn-Brown Dam.
